Do-It-Yourself Decoding Nissan Xterra Tire Size Label

A collection of information for identifying and describes characteristics of the tire known to be a tire label. Such tire’s information for safety standards certification which Federal law required for tire manufacturers to attach this label on the sidewall of all tires. Tire Label consists of tire information such as tire size, tire ply composition, permissible pressure, Tire Identification Number (TIN), load rating, tubeless term, radial term, and brand name.

Illustration shows how to decode tire label yourself, in this example we choose your Nissan Xterra tire size:    

1. P means for passenger vehicle
2. The three-digit-numbers means width from sidewall edge to another edge of tyre in milimeters
3. The two-digit-numbers means the ratio of heigt to width (tires aspect ratio)
4. R for Radial
5. Two digit number after R is the wheel/rim diameter (inches)
6. Two or maybe three digits after R known to be tire’s load index. an index of how much weight each tire may support.
7. H means tire speed rating.
